THINGS TO DO
Fishing
There is excellent trout fishing at the Boardhouse loch or why not try the nearby Harray and Stenness lochs, just a short drive away.
Bird Watching
The ideal location for spotting rare birds with two RSPB reserves close by. Take a walk up to the Marwick head bird reserve or to the Brough of Birsay to see if you can spot the puffins.
Walking
Explore many miles of beautiful coastal paths. Bring your binoculars to spot some whales or relax on the many beaches Orkney has to offer. With excellent air and ferry links to the north and south isles, the possibilities are endless.
Leisure Activities
Excellent, modern leisure facilities are available at the Pickaquoy centre in Kirkwall.
Historical sites
The Brough of Birsay, Earls Palace and The Kitchener Memorial are within walking distance. Or go further back in time with a visit to Skara Brae, Ness of Brodgar or the Standing Stones of Stenness, all just a short drive away. A little further afield, you will find the impressive St Magnus Cathedral and the Italian Chapel.

Cultural Heritage

You can visit the nearby Kirbuster and Corigall farm museums to get an insight into traditional farming methods. Or perhaps follow the craft trail to discover a wide range of local crafts. We would highly recommend a tour of the Barony Mill, Orkney's only working water mill.
